Frequently asked questions
How is the CRS score calculated?
IRCC awards points across four groups: core human capital (age, education, language, Canadian work experience), spouse factors, skill transferability combinations, and additional points (provincial nomination, French, sibling in Canada, Canadian education). Our calculator above applies the official grid automatically.
Do I get CRS points for a job offer in 2026?
No. IRCC removed arranged-employment bonus points in March 2025. A valid job offer still helps your application in other ways but adds zero CRS points.
What CLB do I need for maximum language points?
CLB 10+ in all four abilities gives the maximum (136 points single / 128 with spouse). CLB 9 is the sweet spot most candidates target โ it also unlocks the 50-point skill-transferability tiers.
Does my spouse's profile affect my CRS score?
Yes. With an accompanying spouse, core points are slightly lower (max 460 vs 500) but you can gain up to 40 spouse points from their education, language and Canadian work experience. Try both scenarios in the calculator above.
